Highlander Folk School

Founded in 1932 in Monteagle, Tennessee, Myles Horton’s vision for a just society, particularly regarding workers’ rights, was influenced by the IWW’s mission to denounce management’s greed and to support workers’ regardless of gender, creed, or race. 

On December 17, 1963, William F. Goffney was arrested running from the City Hall after the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald.
